DLR Summit
The Story
DLR Summit is a Digital marketing conference - a first of it's kind for Dún Laoghaire and nominated for Best Brand Marketing in the Irish Internet Association Net Visionary Awards 2017 - The conference has been designed to assist business leaders, decision makers, startups entrepreneurs and thought leaders on how they can continue to transform their business to take advantage of the ever-dynamic digital changes that are affecting the economic and social structures. The main, over-arching theme for this first conference was Digital Transformation and the main areas discussed included: Social Media, Data & Analytics, Cloud Computing and Digital Marketing.
The Context
DLR Summit: Digital Transformation took place on 8th June 2017 at the Pavilion Theatre as part of the action plan of Digital Dún Laoghaire, an initiative of Dún Laoghaire BID. The goal of this annual conference was to be a sustainable event for the town which will position Dún Laoghaire as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity. It was a full day event with 12 speakers from international companies such as Microsoft, Facebook and IBM and local companies such as Wolfgang Digital, Natural Born Feeders and Bank Of Ireland. As a brand new digital marketing conference production, marketing efforts and promotion had to be carried out.
My Role
As a Social Media Assistant and part of the team of organisers, I was tasked to:
Assist with the production, planning and execution of marketing efforts.
Designed the branding of the event which included designs for online and offline channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and offline material (badges, banners, tickets, etc).
Managed the daily posting on social media and monitored performance.
Live tweeting during the event from DLR Summit Twitter account.
And the event went on with huge success!
Results
Nomination for an Irish Internet Association Net Visionary Award, in the best Brand Marketing Category.
Top trend topic in Dublin two times during the day (above the UK election which was being held on the same day)
Turn out of over 240 people, which was brilliant considering it was the first event of it’s kind in the town.
The event was a huge success and received immensely positive feedback from the delegates and sponsors.
